About Us

John Paul II Catholic School is the merged school formed by combining St. Pius X and Queen of the Holy Rosary Schools. The school is located at 6915 W. 71st St., Overland Park, KS.

John Paul II  includes preschool through eighth grade with an emphasis on the development of the Catholic faith and academic excellence.

A Tradition of Faith

John Paul II students learn about and celebrate their faith through a variety of activities such as daily religion classes, weekly All School Masses, a daily student led prayer and special emphasis on the various seasons of the Church year. Second graders prepare for their first reception of the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist. Eighth graders focus on preparing for their Confirmation.

A Tradition of Scholarship

John Paul II is accredited by the North Central Association of Schools. The school follows the curriculum established by the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas. For information on specific subject curriculums, click here. Elective programs for students include Spanish, vocal music and band.

All students have access to the latest technology in the classroom and the computer lab. Students use the lab to enhance their learning in the traditional subjects, as well as computer skills such as keyboarding, word processing, electronic presentations and Internet based research. Internet access is available throughout the building.

Student Activities

John Paul II students are involved in a variety of activities including spelling bees, math contests, an eighth grade play, musical performances, the Science Olympiad, the Miege Quiz Bowl and the Avila Music Festival. Many students also participate in the CYO sports programs in football, track, basketball, volleyball and soccer for grades three through eight.
